Jeff, you are either gaining in patience or knowledge or both. You surely
have changed in many ways since starting the FOYP. You are off meds, regressed
and reversed several diseases, initiated an exercise program...
While you have hit a typical "plateau" in weight loss it most likely comes
from a shift in your body composition - a loss of body fat and a gain in lean
tissue. Only by body composition testing can we determine how your body has
changed. Not by your bathroom scale.
Whenever you combine exercise with diet modification for weight loss
you replace some of the weight lost as fat with lean tissue (muscle, bone,
glycogen & water) gains. These changes are beneficial. They raise
your metabolism and assist in weight maintenance once you reach your target
weight.
This is opposed to the inevitable fat and lean tissue losses
with caloric restriction alone. With loss of lean tissue you have a
lower basal metabolic rate (requiring fewer calories to maintain your current
weight - a slower metabolism), less energy, and you establish an environment
within your body and fat cells for weight regain and a metabolism more efficient
at storing fat than burning fat for energy.
So, yes, you are on your way. Keep up the great work. In two months time (or
earlier if you prefer) we will re-test you to see how much you truly have
changed - Metabolic Wiseman. | | |
