When is it time for your mother or father to stop driving?

How to decide when it's time to take the keys to the car from your elderly parents.

Taking your mother or father's keys away to stop them from driving is a terribly difficult decision.

How do you tell them you are afraid for their safety, let alone the others on the road?

At some point in life, we are all faced with a drive or stop driving decision.

Mayo Clinic wrote an excellent article, "How aging effects your driving: Safety tips and when to give up the keys." Read this and share it with your loved ones. It discusses the various effects of an aging body and their effects on driving. Don't wait until an accident occurs before you face this challenge. You know when it's not good anymore for your mom or dad to keep driving.

It's scary. It feels like you are taking away your parents independence. But how would you feel if there is a automobile accident?

Help your parents stay active by connecting them with organizations and services in their neighborhood that help seniors get around.

Further down the line there will be more decisions.

Is it time for a medical alarm, help from an LPN, or therapy through this transitional time?

Be pro-active. Act before the situation becomes worse.
