Would a pet make a good companion for your loved one?

Scientists have noticed that pets give seniors warm fuzzy feelings. Pets are great companions and scientests have started to explore the complex way animals affect human emotions and physiology.  My cat Pride playing with Jims turtle Diva

 

I can tell you, I love my cats...they're easy to care for and they always love me. My opinion counts, I'm a young senior of fifty-seven.

There is no question that owning a pet can be good for some seniors. The benefits are well-documented; Lowered blood pressure, reduced cardiovascular disease, a sense of well being, reduced feelings of loneliness, not to mention increased fun!  This is a good thing.

Don't rush out and buy that dog, bird, cat, or other animal yet. Take time to think about the responsibilities involved in owing a pet.  In Healthypets article "Pets for Senior Citizens," they talk about the benefits pets have on seniors.  It's an informative read.

 

If a pet is right for your loved one it can make a remarkable difference in their smile.
