You called that right, Mr. Impatient!

Jeff is sure asking a lot of himself and NOT celebrating the little victories.

Jeff,

Your list of identities continues to grow. First when you came up with the Fountain of Youth Project you transitioned into Idea Man, somewhere along the way you became Mr. Transformer, then Speedo Man came along after you posted your hydrostatic testing, and now a new one which will stick - Mr. Impatient.

I could SCREAM!! And you're not even my child. Stop and smell the roses. Not only are you inpatient, you  miss the BIG accomplishments you are making. The first was making the decision to change and to start a program. That is a huge first step!!

Do you need me to list some other accomplishments you've already achieved?

  1. You masterminded a new project - the Fountain of Youth Project.
  2. You hired new consultants and experts - you couldn't have forgotten the last check you signed?
  3. You underwent strenuous testing and analysis - have you already forgotten about the final step test in our lab?
  4. You hired new trainers - forget about your new personal yoga and Tai Chi instructors?
  5. You made changes to your diet - you added supplemental fiber, eliminate fruit and fructose for a test period...
  6. You got off of Glyburide - your blood glucose levels are dropping, eliminating one Rx med and regulating your blood sugar through diet and exercise rather than medications.
  7. You lowered your Aspirin dose: from 325 mg. to 81 mg. per day - creating less stress on your liver and system overall.
  8. You lowered your Methotrexate dose: from 20 mg. to 17.5 mg. - also reducing your physiological stress and potential side effects.
  9. You purchased new home exercise equipment - a new spin bike (needed due to your orthopedic limitations and inability at present to walk or jog - notice I said at present, time and improved conditioning along with weight loss will allow you to begin walking along the beach again), bought an accelerometer (high tech pedometer), wet suit for water exercise...
  10. Your blood pressure is dropping - allowing you to regulate another health parameter with diet and exercise rather than a Rx med.
  11. You are exercising - something you haven't been able to or chosen to do for over four years.
  12. Need I list more?!

Give yourself a break, and celebrate the list above and more. You are doing great. Having goals are important, and essential to keep you going. But don't forget to look at the whole picture my friend. You are doing great - trust me, an objective outside observer. - Metabolic Wiseman
