At this point of the program, Jeff's tender knee let's us know his orthopedic system is the limiting system.

Jeff's tender knee would not technically be an injury. He is taking things
slowly and conscientiously monitoring his body for any signs or symptoms of
discomfort. Prior to pain he stops exercising and reports to me, his coach, as
to his perceptions and thoughts. We aren't pushing to the point of pain and
beyond as many athletes do. Rather stopping at the earliest inclination of
discomfort.

Since Jeff presented himself to me with a history of illness,
currently diseased, and was inactive for four plus years we are taking a
conservative approach with his activity while being aggressive with his
diet. And this approach is paying off. As you've read, he is
off three of four prescription meds and we have reversed his diabetes,
hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and disease risk. And he is exercising most day of
the ... month. Not most days of the week. Some weeks he exercises daily, albeit
some days at an active recovery intensity.

Taking things slow with exercise will allow all of his systems to adapt at
the rate of his weakest link (system). Currently his connective tissue - tendons
and ligaments - are setting the tone. So for now Jeff is reducing his
cardiovascular exercise to a duration and intensity which, would be used for
active recovery rather than conditioning. And we are incorporating preventive
measures including ice, stretching, massage, and when necessary compression and
elevation.

Funny thing though. Mr. Flexible is using frozen vegetables as his ice pack.
Mr. Edamame we'll call him.
